The Scirocco's instantly-iconic face has a low, menacing grille and frowning headlamps which dispel any doubt about the car's capabilities. The interior is packed with the latest in driver assist technology, including touch controls on the steering wheel and a state-of-the-art sat nav system. Extra flourishes include white instrument backlighting, and a dimming interior mirror which reduces the glare from headlights reflections – yet another innovation from Volkswagen. Careful consideration has been given to practical concerns too, with split folding 50/50 rear seats creating a generous boot space of up to 1,006 litres.

The fact that the interior is so well thought-out does nothing to detract from the Scirocco's performance, which has been finely tuned, with the most powerful engine option – the 2.0-litre TSi 207bhp petrol unit – taking the car from 0-60mph in just 6.9 seconds. The Scirocco is highly fuel-efficient, too, thanks to the implementation of BlueMotion Technology and the most efficient engine is capable of up to 62.8mpg combined. In other words, whatever your performance requirements, there will be a Scirocco to meet your needs.
