The third generation Audi TT - now available to test drive at Cheltenham Audi
Since the first production model went on sale in 1998, the Audi TT has gained icon status, rapidly emerging as one of the most popular sports cars in its class, and for good reason.
The latest incarnation on the Audi TT evokes the shape of the first generation model, with a profile which ensures the car is unmistakable as a TT. However, the design is totally new from the ground up, creating an impression of a wider, flatter exterior with aggressive styling, including a chiselled front end, sharper grill and slimmer headlights. The wider rear screen improves the driver’s vision, while shrunken tail-lights lend a leaner look to the rear of the car.
The cabin of the new Audi TT is as sleek and stylish as you would expect and features the Audi Virtual Cockpit at the heart of the dashboard. A neat and clean screen positioned in front of the driver with brilliant graphics and highly detailed visuals can be customised to your preferences, including satellite navigation, speedometer, tachometer or entertainment controls.
The intuitive MMI Navigation Plus system represents the most advanced satellite navigation system ever produced by Audi, with touch controls and a display integrated into the Audi Virtual Cockpit. TT drivers can now also use 4G internet access from within the vehicle to access music and other entertainment and navigation and map information from Google Maps. Other neat touches include air-conditioning climate controls integrated into the air vents, with optional digital displays to create an uncluttered, modern interior.
An iconic car deserves a legendary all-wheel drive system. The new TT’s Quattro permanent all-wheel drive has been specially developed for the new model, delivering a sporty, responsive drive with astonishing levels of grip and stability to match its character.
As you might have guessed, the third generation Audi TT is lighter than ever, delivering greater fuel efficiency thanks to Audi Space Frame Technology – the combination of aluminium and steel which results in a weight 50kg less than the second generation model.
With petrol and diesel options available, the TT offers excellent performance. The 2.0-litre TDI now powers the TT from 0-60mph in less than 7.2 seconds, while also emitting 29g/km less CO2 than the outgoing model at just 110g/km. It also delivers a stunning 67.2mpg on the combined cycle. There is also a dual-clutch Quattro 2.0-litre TFSI, which propels the TT from 0-60mph in less than 5.3 seconds.
Whichever power you choose, you can pick from either Sport or S line trim levels. The Sport is well-equipped and offers some great features as standard. Additional equipment on the S line includes 19-inch five spoke alloy wheels, S line embossed seats that offer electric lumbar support, S line bumper, side skirts and diffuser inserts and interior touches including a perforated black leather gear knob, brushed aluminium inlays and S line badges.
